A bit about us ...  Hill Farm is a working farm in beautiful Suffolk.  We grow crops and flowers, and there are sheep in our meadows.

Winner of Booking.com's Traveller Awards in both 2019 and 2020, we have a small, friendly glamping site with eight 5m luxury bell tents in our woodland, with views of fields and hedgerows.

Each tent is named after local Suffolk Punch horses, past and present.  Suffolk Punches are one of the biggest, rarest and most beautiful horse breeds in the world.

We provide you with beds, bedding and towels, electricity in each tent, individual cooking facilities, high quality showers and toilets, WiFi, and individual fire pits and BBQs.

Providing government Covid-19 guidance allows, our glamping site will be open between 29th May 2021 - 19th September 2021.

We look forward to welcoming you to Hill Farm.

We hope you love your stay and can't wait to return!

We love welcoming people to our farm to stay with us. Our 5m luxury bell tents tents cater for four people as standard, but can accommodate up to five or six. As well as our Glamping site, we have two holiday cottages near our farmhouse.  We are also planning to offer facilities for special events on our farm

from Summer 2022.

Our immediate surroundings are a rural idyll, full of opportunities to explore the countryside.  We are also ideally located between the vibrant city of Norwich, the market town of Bury St Edmunds, the popular and pretty coastal towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh, and Suffolk's county town, Ipswich.

keep up to date with our news ... Spring & Summer at hill Farm suffolk

What a year it’s been for everyone.  This time last year, we were already well into our first lockdown, the rest of the year didn’t get any better, and we are still feeling the effects of the global Covid-19 pandemic.

At Hill Farm however, the natural rhythm of the seasons has continued uninterrupted, providing much needed comfort, blissfully unaware of the ongoing strife in the world outside.

Spring well and truly sprung.  White narcissus lined the banks of the pond.  The bluebells popped around the trees with an iridescent blue.  And plucky pheasants continue to strut around the garden, emboldened after last year’s shooting hiatus.

The Spring weather was dry, with crisp, frosty mornings giving way to beautiful Spring sunshine. Summer weather has been a bit more changeable!

On the farm, some fields are left fallow.  This helps rebalance soil nutrients, provides a haven for wildlife, and enables us to ditch and drain the fields before autumn crops are sown.

Other fields have malting barley growing, soon to be harvested, to the delight of children staying in the glamping site, who will love seeing the combine and tractors chug up and down the fields.

The glamping site is up and running for the season.  Our tents are dressed with furniture and linen, ready to welcome our family glampers.  Logs have been split and put into bags with kindling and firelighters for the firepits, and charcoal is bagged up for the BBQs.

Our tents are named after the rarest and most magnificent of horse breeds – the local Suffolk punch.  Two of these horses, Bracken and Mayfly, lived at Hill Farm and their names are etched on our stable block.  Otthers, Achilles, Polly and Dexter, lived on the farm next door.

Having had to close for most of the year, we are now welcoming visitors to our holiday cottages again.  Species of bird counted by our latest guests number 35, and include barn owls, kestrels, buzzards, red kites, skylarks and song thrushes.

And, last but not least, our barn renovation project continues its preparation phase, with the aim of welcoming visitors for special events at Hill Farm from Summer 2022.

We hope you have enjoyed Hill Farm news for Spring & Summer.  We still have a few glamping places left from 30th August - 19th September.  Come and enjoy friendly Suffolk hospitality at its best.

Stay safe and well,

Stephie, Mary, Iain & baby Felix
